Book Review: A Girl Called Owl

A GIRL CALLED OWL
BY: AMY WILSON

Owl has always wanted to know who her father was, but her mum wouldn't tell her anything. But when Owl started seeing ice patterns on her skin, when her hands started turning blue and white and when she started crying ice tears she knew that something was not right. Could her new powers be linked to the father she's never met?
So Owl's adventure begins... With wild winds and frozen magic, with trust and betrayal and story that will never be forgotten! So what are you wanting for....
(My little overview)

A beautiful frozen adventure with winter magic and friendship.

The way that Amy Wilson wrote this book, makes you can feel connected with the magic that flows though its pages. The way she writes about each character, giving them depth and personalities, makes the story come alive.  Her characters come to life in your head as you read about Owl and her adventure, finding her path when she discovers she has a magic ability.

I thought I knew what was going to happen in this book, but I was wrong, it took a wonderful turn and I was blown away by the story.

If I had to say who my favourite character was, it's probably Jake Frost. His character was so fun to read about, with all his tricks and games and when he called Owl, 'Little Owl' it warmed my heart. To be honest I adored all of the characters in there own special way. I can't wait to read more of Amy Wilson's books, with her earlier book A Far Away Magic and Snow Globe (Coming out 18th of October)

I am also in love with the front cover of this book, when I look at the artwork I want to start drawing frozen lands and winter owls, inspired by Helen Crawford-White illustrations. All of Amy Wilson's books have amazing front covers and they are all so beautiful drawn by Helen.

I thank Amy Wilson for writing this beautiful book and Helen Crawford-White for illustrating a gorgeous cover. Thank you! I hope more people read this story because it's a truly wonderful tale.
